1. Briefly describe your organization and position:
I work at Allwel, a healthcare company specializing in home care and behavioral health services. In my role as the Director of Human Resources, I have been with the organization for just over a year. This experience has allowed me to gain valuable insights into the unique HR challenges and needs within the healthcare industry.
2. What do you enjoy most about HR?
As an HR professional, I find great satisfaction in making a positive impact on the lives of all employees. My role involves not only managing the HR aspects of the organization but also connecting employees with valuable information and resources that can significantly enhance both their quality of life and their effectiveness at work. This commitment to fostering employee well-being and professional growth is at the core of my role, and it drives my dedication to creating a supportive and enriching workplace environment.
3. How long have you been involved with the BNHRA?
Before joining the board at BNRA, I was an active participant in the organization's activities. I regularly attended their legal updates to stay well-informed about industry changes. Additionally, I actively participated in various informational seminars and networking events hosted by BNRA. This engagement not only allowed me to stay current in my field but also underscored my commitment to professional growth and staying connected with industry peers.
4. In your spare time, what do you like to do for fun?
During my leisure time, I find joy in a diverse range of activities and pursuits. Roller skating and mentoring youth are two passions that I hold close to my heart, as they allow me to stay active and give back to the community. Additionally, my love for travel takes me around the world. I immerse myself in different cultures, various savory cuisines, and I also connect with people from diverse backgrounds. Maintaining physical fitness is another priority, and I engage in activities such as cycling, martial arts, and distance running to keep both my body and mind in excellent shape. These interests not only enrich my life but also reflect my commitment to personal growth and well-rounded experiences.
5. What is your favorite thing about Buffalo?
What captivates me most about Buffalo is its rich history and the ever-evolving sense of community. The city's deep historical roots, combined with its ongoing efforts to foster a strong and inclusive community spirit, create a unique and vibrant environment. It's inspiring to witness how Buffalo continues to grow and adapt, all while cherishing its heritage and embracing a shared sense of belonging among its residents. This dynamic blend of history and community engagement makes Buffalo a truly special place to be a part of.
6. What has been the biggest influence on your career path?
The most significant influence on my career path has undeniably been the people I've had the privilege to assist, inspire, and motivate throughout my journey. Witnessing the positive impact I can have on individuals and organizations is not only rewarding but also the ultimate fulfillment in my career. Being able to facilitate meaningful change and empower others to reach their potential is a reward in itself, driving my dedication to making a difference in the professional lives of those I encounter.
