October 7 Navigating the Inner Critic and Achieving Success in the Workplace
presented by: Lindsay Amico, Mindset Coach at Picture Perfect Mind
In a society full of fast-paced judgments and opinions, is it possible to operate from a space of neutrality? We all see the world through our own perspective, operate from our own belief systems, and draw conclusions that lead to actions and results. If we open our own awareness could we lead our organizations with a less biased lens?
This presentation will provide simple tools for the HR professional to shift our perspective and act from a space of objectivity. By utilizing tools to enhance our self-awareness, we can more effectively promote and communicate initiatives. In this workshop, participants will learn how to be an outside observer of their thoughts, beliefs, internal biases, and learn how to value the backgrounds of diverse populations. We’ll discuss how to identify the “inner critic” and how to navigate this for ourselves and others.
Lastly, we’ll review simple stress reduction techniques, to connect more seamlessly to equitable and open-minded leadership.
Attendees will receive a PDF workbook that accompanies the presentation.
ZOOM Meeting 5:30 p.m. - 6:30 p.m.

November 4 Lead With Laughs: How Humor Inspires A Creative And Engaged Workplace
presented by:David Horning, Chief Experience Officer at Water Cooler Comedy
We have been conditioned to believe that “work isn’t the time or place to laugh,” but studies have conclusively shown that this couldn’t be further from the truth. Organizations that have integrated humor into their workplace culture have seen increases in productivity, collaboration and communication, and the ability to adapt to the adversity of uncertainty, all while showing a reduction in workplace stress, and a boost in morale.
In a presentation deemed “a wake-up call for businesses,” “incredibly timely,” and “wildly unprofessional,” by past audiences, David introduces humor as a skill that can be used to springboard the unintended side effects of disruption. Equal parts levity and learning, Lead With Laughs has it all: scientific studies, hilarious anecdotes, and groundbreaking studies in employee engagement, but most importantly, a life hack you can use to disrupt the disruption and create a workplace people want to be.
You don’t even have to be funny to do it!

New York State Employers Must Prepare to Comply with
New Sick Leave Law on September 30, 2020
(Aug 19, 2020)
Effective September 30, 2020, all New York State employers will have to comply with the requirements of § 196-b of the New York Labor Law requiring that employers provide all of their employees with paid or unpaid sick leave. Whether an employee is entitled to paid or unpaid leave, and the amount of leave an employee is entitled to, will depend on the employer’s size. Section 196-b is the first Statewide law mandating sick leave for employees. To be ready for this new leave entitlement, employers will have to ensure that they have a compliant policy and procedures in place to track leave accrual and use when the new law takes effect.
