“What About Us?” Diversity and Inclusion in Financial Wellness
presented by
Charles (Chuck) Privitera, Jr., AIF®, SHRM-SCP
Senior Consultant
Westminster Consulting
About the presentation:
The financial services industry is set up really well to help people with money. For a long time, this business has in large part been staffed by older white men. As such, women, BIPOC and people without money are generally left underserved. We see this in 401(k) plan participation rates, debt accumulation, and most importantly, levels of financial stress your employees are taking to work with them. The system is set up, especially at work, to encourage, and sometimes even “force” people to choose retirement as their #1 savings priority. Interestingly when surveyed, there is only one group that prioritizes retirement as their #1 savings priority – white men. We have a lot of interesting stats, and some solutions. This is definitely not your average 401(k) plan conversation. You’ve likely never heard this material unless you’ve heard it from Chuck!
About our speaker:
Charles (Chuck) is a Senior Consultant at Westminster Consulting. He has client relationship responsibilities primarily in the Metro New York and Mid-Atlantic regions. Chuck assists his clients with the design, implementation, and investment monitoring of their retirement plans, financial well-being of employee participants, human capital advisory services, and diversity and inclusion issues in financial benefit utilization.
For the last 3 years, a major focus for the firm is financial well-being of employees who are typically left behind by the financial services industry. Chuck and his team have identified serious gaps in 401(k) plan savings rates and large disparities in financial stress levels in the workplace based on race and gender. These issues have only been exacerbated by the pandemic and spotlighted by the high profile deaths of Black Americans. The Westminster Workplace Solutions platform seeks to address these issues through an innovative approach to financial coaching and wellness.
