    As a Human Resources professional, you know that the keys to success in this challenging field are: keeping current on HR issues, trends and skills; developing a strong support network; and contributing to your organization's success. BNHRA was created to help you in all of these areas.

    BNHRA, formerly known as the Niagara Frontier Chapter of SHRM, was founded by a small group of local personnel managers and university professors in 1974. The goal was to provide open communication, networking and information to others in the same profession. BNHRA is an affiliate of SHRM.

    Today, BNHRA represents the interests of more than 600+ professional and student members, representing more than 300,000 employees within the Western New York community.

    Our members are people like you - who face the same challenges every day. BNHRA members represent large and small companies in all industries within the region, as well as individuals providing products and services to the HR community.

    If you are not currently a member of the national Society for Human Resources Management, please be sure to review the SHRM Member Services Guide. We strongly encourage BNHRA members to become a member of SHRM, as membership on both the local and national levels assures you opportunities to stay ahead of our rapidly changing field.


    Monthly Program Meetings 

    The monthly meetings provide you with an opportunity to network with human resource professionals from around the area. We continuously strive to provide quality programs at each meeting. Our goal is to provide informative and interesting programs that will educate each attendee and help them grow both professionally and personally. To accomplish this goal, expert speakers from various areas of the human resource field are featured at the monthly meeting. Dinner or Breakfast meetings are held the third Wednesday of each month and are designed to educate our membership on a variety of current HR topics. We also have social and networking events to ensure a balance of work, pleasure and networking opportunities. 

    Educational Workshops 

    The Chapter offers timely and consistent educational workshops and training sessions on current topics and trends. This offers the BNHRA membership an opportunity to attain cutting-edge HR skills and knowledge that enable them to maintain “a seat at the table” or to be a value-added HR business partner.

    Membership Directory

    All members have access to our online directory that can be searched by last name, first name, company name and specialization.

    Human Resource Certification

    BNHRA advocates professional certification through SHRM National’s Human Resource Certification Institute. Certification and re-certification information and support is available to all members and study groups form periodically.

    Job Bank 

    A free “on line” job bank is maintained to assist members who are seeking career opportunities, or seeking qualified candidates for available positions.

    Governmental Affairs

    Online legislative updates are posted to our site. Members are kept informed of pending local, state and federal legislation that may affect human resources.

    Volunteer Opportunities

    BNHRA members have the opportunity to volunteer on a chapter committee or in a leadership role.

    Member Discounts

    BNHRA members are eligible for several discounts and benefits including discounts on payroll services, job postings, training, and insurance.

    SHRM Affiliation

    The Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM) is the world’s largest association devoted to human resource management. Representing more than 275,000 members in over 140 countries, the Society serves the needs of HR professionals and advances the interests of the HR profession. Founded in 1948, SHRM has more than 575 affiliated chapters within the United States and subsidiary offices in China and India. Being a national SHRM member has many benefits.     BNHRA is an affiliated SHRM chapter. SHRM membership, however, is separate from BNHRA membership.
