Certification Scholarship 2018

     Human Resources Certification Test Prep Scholarship Application (2018)

    Offered by Center for Professional Development at Canisius College (CPD) in partnership with the Buffalo Niagara Human Resource Association (BNHRA).

    Program Overview and Eligibility

    The CPD will award one active BNHRA Member a scholarship worth the current test prep fees (test prep fees are subject to change) at the time of enrollment toward either the cost of the SHRM CP/SHRM SCP (Spring 2018) or PHR/SPHR (Fall 2018) certification prep program   Applicants must be working in some facet of HR. The test prep may be taken in a classroom either setting or online (if offered). The scholarship does not include the cost of the certification test.

    This scholarship is a one-time award and must be redeemed as outlined or it will be null and void. Once you register for the test prep, you must complete the test prep in its entirety or you will be responsible for repaying the full and current fees.

    Eligibility: All BNHRA members that are active at the time of the application submission deadline are eligible to apply.

    Application Timeline and Deadline

    Deadline to apply:   December 15, 2017


    October 1, 2017 – Enrollment is open for active BNHRA members 

    December 15, 2017 – Applications submitted in the online form (have a timestamp by the date above). Late entries will not be reviewed.

    January 5, 2018 – Scholarship recipient selected and notified


    Selection Criteria


    The scholarship recipient is selected based on the following criteria:


    • 50% Work experience/progression (HR involvement)

    • 30% Volunteer work to advance HR profession

    • 20% Financial need

    HR Certification Institute® (HRCI®) Certifications

    PROFESSIONAL IN HUMAN RESOURCES® (PHR®) - The PHR demonstrates your mastery of the technical and operational aspects of HR management, including U.S. laws and regulations.
